Teaching Artist
I am currently a teaching artist for the Orchestra of St. Luke’s and America's Socitey which means that throughout the year I teach music appreciation to about 300 students from New York City public schools.
I believe that the work of teaching artists is quintessential to the future of classical music. As a teaching artist, one provides important knowledge that tremendously enhances the concert experience for the students. It also demystifies classical music for children that have had little exposure to this musical genre.
Also, I have performed in a number of untraditional venues and settings such as retirement homes and homeless shelters. Music always brings happiness to people’s lives. Therefore my work as a teaching artist gives me a great sense of purpose.

Mary-Lynn Culbert, 3rd grade teacher from PS 173 in Manhattan wrote:
"Pascal Archer is both an accomplished musician and an inspiring teaching artist. My students looked forward to his visits every week. Pascal's thoughful lessons, collegial manner and relaxed and confident teaching style encouraged the children and I to explore and enjoy the world of orchestral music as we never could have without his enthusiatic guidance."
I had all the kids write letters about their opinion of the program. Here is a quote from Brandon's letter: "I learned alot of information about Mozat, and really enjoyed you, Mr. Archer, even when you played your clarinet."

I got many thank you notes in the mail. Here is one from a student at MS 131 in Chinatown, Manhattan (click on it for a larger image):
